Industrial Relations and employee related issues have always been a focus of Jim’s professional interest, both in the practice of law and in business. After law school Jim’s legal experience began in Virginia where he handled labor matters for a number of businesses and labor unions. From there, Jim returned to school where he earned advanced degrees in Business Management and Organization Behavior while teaching and conducting research. Jim was also a Professor in the School of Business at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA where he was also appointed a Senior Associate in the W.T. Beebe Institute for Personnel and Employment Relations. Jim has acted as an expert witness in employment discrimination cases and has conducted research and consulting projects in more than a dozen Fortune 500 companies. Jim is responsible for managing the law firm’s business matters. Jim’s legal practice centers around helping workers who have been injured on the job.
Jim is married to Alice Ray Ragan, Director of Health Services for Gaston County Schools. They are members of First Presbyterian Church of Gastonia.
